Adaptive brightness automatically adjusts the screen brightness of your PC according to the light around you. This is just like a feature on our smartphones that we take for granted. Adaptive brightness will brighten or dim your PC screen display according to the effects of light in your surroundings. This feature is very cool because it ensures your PC display is neither too dark or too bright no matter the place you are. Windows 10 also has an inbuilt adaptive brightness feature that works on laptops. It depends on your laptop power plan, the adaptive brightness feature may or may not be enabled on your system. Here is how you can successfully enable or disable it.
Open the advance options for your current power plan. To do this, open your control panel app. Go to Hardware and Sound after that select Power Options.
Now click ‘Change Plan Settings’ option.
Finally, click on ‘Change advanced power settings’.
How to get into the Power Options for currently active power plan. The adaptive display is being managed here under “Display” settings. You need to expand it and look for the “Enable adaptive brightness” option. You now have the option to enable or disable it here for when your laptop is plugged in or when it’s in battery power.
Adaptive display brightness is very useful on Surface tablets. When it comes to laptop, it’s useful when you want to work outdoor and you probably don’t want to turn the brightness up manually.
Note that if you don’t see these settings on your system, it might be because your laptop doesn’t have the sensor required for it. This sensor was first introduced in Windows 8 so therefore if by chance you bought a laptop that came with Windows 7 and later upgraded it there’s chance it never had the sensor.
