Before smartphones were a thing it was always a good concept to keep a pen and a paper in your pocket so you can be able to write something important if needed. Smartphones have pretty much reduced this need and not just because they come with impressive note taking applications but because the camera lets us take a sharp image of any information we need to save. Applications like Google Keep can help detect text in an image and can turn it into a note for you. The app TakeMeasure is a free Android software that turns your camera right into a measuring software but provided you have an A4 paper available. The application lets you place the desired object you want to measure next to the A4 paper and photograph them altogether. then it finds the size of the object in relation to the A4 paper.
Install TakeMeasure after that allow it to connect to your camera. Place the object you would like to measure and the said A4 paper side by side on a smooth surface. launch TakeMeasure and take a photo of the two items placed next to each other. Otherwise, if you have an image in your camera roll you can use that.
After taking you have taken the picture, you will need to help the application to identify the A4 paper’s dimensions. Drag the large circles out so that the lines they control can be aligned with the paper in the image. The circles correspond to it’s corners that you must snap to the corners of the paper. When you are done, you need to tap the Check Mark button at the bottom left. You will now see two outsized circles that shift the ends of a line will appear on the image. Position them from one end to the other end of the object you wish to measure and it will give you it’s length in inches.
The application is quite perfect. We won’t commend using it to measure things where exact measurements are needed but you can use it when the stakes aren’t that high.
The application lets you change the comparative measuring object from an A4 paper to a US Letter Sheet/dollar notes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 denominations. To modify the object, click ‘US Letter Sheet’ at the bottom of the application’s screen. You can also change the measuring units from inches to millimeters, meters, centimeters, or feet from the application’s settings.
Also apart from making this an easy to use tool in offices, the fact that it also supports currency notes means you can use it when you are on the go. The currency note measure although limit it so that it’s only useful to residents of the US but the feature is however neat.
