You’ll sometimes think Facebook would be faster at copying itself. Five years ago after Facebook Messenger took a cue from WhatsApp Messenger and Voxer to launch its voice messaging, voice messaging is now rolling out globally to all Instagram users.

The newly implemented feature gives users the chance to send each other audio messages up to one minute long in both private and group chats. The update is gradually rolling out now for Android and iOS users.

Sending Voice Messages on Instagram

Users who have received and updated to the latest version of the app can make use of the feature to record messages by holding down the microphone button. Once the one-minute duration has reached it will send automatically when the user releases the button, so if you decide or think you don’t feel confident about sending the voice message or want to re-record it, you can quickly slide your finger over to the trash icon button to delete it immediately.

Even though Instagram is a little bit late on releasing the voice messages to DMs, It still has quite a long way to go and they will have to compete with Viber, Telegram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp as the case may be.

Instagram Voice messaging feature may be a welcome development to some users who would normally prefer to send voice messages rather than typing in DMs, as the voice messaging are generally fast and becoming the preferred choice of communications on social media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook.
