How To Easily Reverse Mouse Buttons For Left-Handed Use

Sponsored

The world is intensely stacked against left-handed users. Everything from desk-chairs in schools to laptops and phones is built in view of right-handed users. The scroll bars in your browser are on the right since it’s more intuitive for a right-handed user. If you pick up your mobile phone and open an app, you will notice how most of the UI components are placed with the aim that they’re easier to use for a right-handed individual. Also, even the touchpad on a laptop favors right-handed users. There aren’t many laptops out there that are specifically built for left-handed users. While hardware presents fewer options for left-handed users, you can rely on software to come to the rescue. For instance, Android has an alternate layout for left-handed users. On laptops, users can actually use a mouse and reverse mouse buttons for left-handed usage. To do that, you require an app called Moure.

Reverse Mouse Buttons For Left-Handed Use

Moure is not an app that will allow you to extensively remap buttons or keys on a mouse. If you own a gaming mouse that you’ll love to tweak for left-handed use then this app will not do it. This app does one basic thing; it can reverse mouse buttons for left-handed use. Basically, the default left-click button which can select and execute items/files is made to work like the right-click button. It will give you a chance to access menus and extra settings. The right-click button is remapped similarly i.e., it takes the function of the left-click button.

Now, Install the Moure app and launch it. It will automatically help you to detect all the pointing devices which are connected to your system. It will detect any USB and trackpad or wireless mouse you may have connected. Every device is identified by its device code. Check the ‘Swap Buttons’ box beside a device and exit the application. The mouse buttons will be reversed.

Identifying Your Device

Pointing devices do not normally have a name like drives or USBs do. They are rather identified by their hardware ID. To find the hardware ID or object ID as in this case, you have to go to the Device Manager. Expand the ‘Mice and other pointing devices’ category. Select a mouse that you identify and double click it to go to its properties section. On the Properties window, select the “Details” tab. Open the drop-down and select Physical device object name. This is the means by which Moure identifies your mouse.

Use this information to choose which pointing device it is you want to reverse the mouse buttons for. To undo this, just launch the  and uncheck the swap buttons box just next to a device.
