How To Get A Virtual Home Button On iPhone X

Sponsored

It’s basic knowledge that the iPhone X does not have a home button. The device is the greatest update of the iPhone design that Apple has made since it introduced the iPhone 5 when it says goodbye to its glass back models and changed to aluminum. Apple has ditched the home button on iPhone X, however, it has supplanted it with a virtual home indicator bar. It’s a horizontal bar that sits at the bottom of your screen and it perceives and executes gestures. It is in no way, the same as the home button. In case you’re experiencing difficulty adjusting to the home indicator, i will be showing you how you can get a virtual home button on the iPhone X.

iOS has, for a very long time, had an extraordinarily useful accessibility feature called ‘AssistiveTouch’. This feature actually enables users with disabilities to utilize their phone more effectively. Also, the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5S models were all inclined to falling Home buttons. Users who couldn’t have the home button repaired quickly, made use of AssistiveTouch to add a virtual home button to their device. That same feature also works in iPhone X.

Virtual Home Button On iPhone X

Open the Settings app and go to General > Accessibility. now, scroll down to the AssistiveTouch option.

Enable AssistiveTouch and a floating round button will be added to your screen. On this same screen, tap ‘Single-Tap’ under custom actions and select ‘Home’ for the single tap option. Now, anytime you tap the floating button once, it will automatically execute the Home button’s action. Tapping it twice will enable the reachability feature.

Customize Home Screen

The AssistiveTouch button can be dragged and situated anyplace on your home screen. A few users like to empty the dock on their iPhone X and drag the button to the center. It at that point sits top of the home indicator and feels more normal to use. Unfortunately, there’s no real way to disable the home bar and enabling AssistiveTouch does not automatically hide/disable it.

You don’t need to empty the dock or position the button in the center if that does not suit you. You can use the virtual home button with the home bar and the device will work just fine. Some users are utilizing the virtual home button on the iPhone X for gestures that they generally experience issues executing with the home bar. For other gestures, for example, returning back to the home screen or going the next or previous app, the home indicator is the better alternative.

With all that stated, it is your device so you can use it any way you feel is convenient.
