How To Use AR Bitmoji In Snapchat

Sponsored

Augmented reality is slowly becoming more common. You might think it’s because of Apple and its newest iPhones but you’re wrong. You have Pokèmon Go to thank for it, and possibly Snapchat. While the new AR games that will come to iOS will only work on the latest iPhone models, Snapchat is keeping things more inclusive. It already has 3D lenses and it’s now added AR Bitmoji. Bitmoji has been a pretty big part of Snapchat and AR makes it more fun. You can now add your very own animated Bitmoji avatar to your snaps in Snapchat. Here’s how to use AR Bitmoji in Snapchat.

Use AR Bitmoji In Snapchat

This is a new Snapchat feature so make sure you’re running the latest version of the app. Open Snapchat and on the camera viewfinder, tap and hold for while. Normally, this loads 3D lenses in Snapchat. The AR Bitmoji in Snapchat is something similar. Once they load, swipe and bring one of the AR Bitmoji into the capture button and it will load your avatar.

While the avatar is loading, you will see the Bitmoji logo in the middle of the screen. There are several AR Bitmoji in Snapchat that you can swipe through. Your 3D lens are still there, just at the end.

Once the avatar loads, you can position it anywhere, and pinch to make it smaller or larger. You can also rotate an avatar to get a different angle. Tap the capture button to capture or record a snap. The Bitmoji are animated so a video will show them off the best. They also come with sound effects so again, go for a video. Some of the animations are longer than the maximum length of a clip so you might want to pay a little attention to when you start recording.

Supported Devices

Ideally, AR Bitmoji should work regardless of how old, or how new your device is. This feature doesn’t require a very high-quality camera to work. In fact, it has nothing to do with the camera at all. If your device is supported by the latest version of Snapchat, you’re good to go.

It’s important that you have a Bitmoji avatar configured and connected to your account. You can edit your Bitmoji’s appearance in the official Bitmoji app and the AR Bitmoji will update to reflect it. It’s actually why it takes a little time to load your avatar. You do not need to have the Bitmoji app installed on your phone to use the feature, however, if you need to edit your avatar’s appearance, you will need the app.
