In an extraordinary move, Samsung has unveiled the moniker of its next Galaxy Note smartphone earlier on time, the company also disclosed the reason why the decision to jump straight from the Galaxy Note 5 to Galaxy Note 7.

The rumour has been filled with leaks and speculations about the upcoming Galaxy Note 7. To put all these reports to an end, Samsung revealed the date to launch the Galaxy Note 7. The new flagship will be unleashed at Samsung’s Unpacked event in New York on August 2nd. Though we think that the decision of jumping directly to Note 7 looks legit, with the expected arrival of the upcoming iPhone 7 in September. Samsung might just want to confuse the Google search, like it did with its S6 and iPhone 6s. Some of the results searched on Google used to show the Galaxy S6 whenever a user search for iPhone 6s.

The upcoming launch event for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be broadcasted live from the venue. Fans will be able to stream it on the Samsung’s official website. The company will also be organizing concurrent events in Rio de Janeiro and London.

First and foremost, though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple of reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.”

Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Expected Features and Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to come packaged with a 5.7-inch S7 edge like curved display. It might also spot a 12-megapixel primary camera and a water resistance like the Galaxy S7. Reports also hint that the upcoming Note will come bundled with an iris scanner for additional biometric protection, and also with a 4,000mAh battery capacity.
