Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Announced, The Fastest Processor Yet

A recent upgrade to the Snapdragon 820 flagship mobile processor, called Snapdragon 821 was officially unveiled. The Snapdragon 820 was unveiled late last year and a good number of devices released this year is said to be running on its processor. The Snapdragon 821 a powerful successor to the Snapdragon 820, which is also a part of the leading flagships presently such as the HTC 10, Samsung Galaxy L7, LG G5, and so on.

The latest smartphone chip is said to be 10 percent faster than the previous version, it has four CPU cores based on the Qualcomm’s custom Kryo designs just like its predecessor, and also a top speed of 2.4 GHz. Its power efficiency is also boosted there by making battery life of devices last longer than before.

Qualcomm also noted that Snapdragon 821 SoC is loaded with most of the Snapdragon 820’s features like the LTE uploads up to three times fast with the Snapdragon Upload, it also supports download speeds of around 600Mbs, and also including Ultra HD Voice tech for enhanced call quality.

Enhancements that come with the Snapdragon 821

The Snapdragon 821 chip comes with a model number of MSM8996 Pro. The graphics chip embedded in the Snapdragon 821 chip is clocked at a higher frequency, it increased from 624MHz to 650MHz. Aside from supporting tablets and mobile phones, and it also targets the powering of robots, virtual reality headsets and drones:

The Snapdragon 820 helped improve the user experience for mobile imaging, virtual reality, battery life, and connectivity speed and reliability, all the updates we’ve included in Snapdragon 821 will help keep devices powered by Snapdragon 800 premium-tier processors at the top of people’s shopping lists into the foreseeable future.

There are speculations that the US. Version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe and also the rumored HTC made Nexus smartphones will also be loaded with the chip. Smartphones and tablets which are powered by this new chip should be released in the 2nd half of 2016, the company also mentioned that additional details would be released later.
